Module 4 Reflection: Transatlantic Slave Trade

Transatlantic Slave Trade

Transatlantic Slave Trade brought slaves all over the world. A lot of Africans crossed the Atlantic to  America during the 1500's -1820. 12.5 million captive Africans and about 10.8 million of them went to America on ships. The only good thing was that when this started slavery was not generational yet. If a slave had a kid then that kid was not a slave during this time before the slave trade got to America. Everyone wanted a part of the money/wealth during this time. Sugar became a global profit during this time. I think Slavery is wrong and it dehumanizes people. Even though I think slave trade and slavery is wrong I do believe that everything happens for a reason. We would not be who we are today without the slave trade and everything it brought around the world.

Module 3 Reflection:European Exploration

It was not surprising that China was the wealthiest in 1491. The thing that did surprise me was that Western Africa had the greatest source of gold. Europe was weak and really united during this time. Before Europe expanded they were seen as a minor civilization compared to what we see when we think of Europe today. It’s weird how people didn’t really like the ocean in 1491. They look at the ocean as a mode of transportation compared to today where people go to the ocean to relax and have fun. 1450 in Portugal was the first successful campaign of Atlantic exploration. Looking at all the information the world has really changed from then to now. I do not know how I would feel if I was born during that time. They were still building and coming up with systems and today we are changing but they kind of made the template for us.
